Once upon a Time...

 

"Once upon a time there lives a "Princess" who lives in a Beautiful Big Castle. One day, She was very bored & lonely having to enjoy the luxury of being just a princess .. so one day she decided to explore the castle without anybody knowing, slowly, tiptoeing, she went from room to room .. until she stumbled upon the kingdom's chef's baking room.. She was so fascinated with the warm ambience of t...hat tiny room and the nice aroma of the freshly made cookies, so she decided to have a bit of fun! She baked her first cookies which turns out very black & salty, as she has never baked before, she destroyed the chef's mixer as she didnt know that the butter has to be at room temperature before mixing.. it was apparent that the room was in its upside down state..SUDDENLY, the Kingdom's feared chef came in.. and he was soo MAD.. You see he was actually an Evil Magician who has a bad motive.. so he shouted at her and...." to be continue on my next princess cake...:PPPP hahaha.. "

 

Anyway, heres a veryyy veryy long overdue pictures of the "Princess Theme Set" I did last year!! I have other pictures that is longg overdue too.. I apologised for not updating earlier, this is due to the maid crisis ive recently encounter.. so yeah, not trying to whinge or complain as Im now a fulltime working mother (in a 9-6pm office job), and having to takecare of my 4yrs old son, while trying to juggle cleaning the house, cooking for the family and making these cake order (hence limiting myself to only 1 order a week now)... So yeah..without further do... ill let the pictures do the blogging!! heheeh..:P

The smurf was one of the childhood cartoon that I grew up with during the 1980's.. used to read all their comics and storybook! So when a customer (who ordered Thomas themed last year) asked me to make her son "the smurf' themed set for his 6th birthday at kindergarten, I was excited! I mean.. why wouldnt I? they're just so cute!! and well.. BLUE! hehehe.. such trademark.. Sadly, it was almost forgotten by the new generation till recently when its making its comeback thanks to "The Smurf Movies" recently showing in the cinema.  Wanted to take my son to watch this movie but unfortunately was too late as its no more showing.  Oh well, guess have to buy the DVD instead.   

Due to the limited time notice, (less than 10days) and considering I still hold my dayjob (monday to saturday), I can only make 2 smurf characters... nonetheless the famous "Papa Smurf" and after considering which other smurf character to make, I decided to make the "Brainy Smurf" as he's one of the more standout character among all the other smurfs (and we know theres many many different type of smurfs there.. hehe..)..  Let me tell you a lil more about the brainy smurf's character:

"Brainy Smurf is an avid reader and keeps a lot of books in his house (mostly his quotations); his books are entitled "Quotations of Brainy Smurf," which contain Brainy's purported "folk wisdom." Few, if any Smurfs, read the books and are annoyed each time Brainy attempts to get his fellow Smurfs to read the books.  Brainy Smurf fancies himself as the all-around-brain of the village. Although he acts as though he is second-in-command behind Papa Smurf, this isn't the case and even Papa Smurf doesn't seem very fond of his sanctimonious attitude. In fact he could be considered as the class swot or know-it-all. He is a smurf that can be distinguished from the others because he wears thick glasses as he is extremely short-sighted. In fact, in the original Belgian version, he is called "Smurf with Glasses". (taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainy_Smurf )

Adorably cute hey!! hehehe.. i love brainy smurf although he can be soo annoying!! as for "Papa Smurf", whom according to the wilipedia, "At 542 years old (546 in the movie) is the third-oldest Smurf after Grandpa and Nanny,^[1] and well above the typical age of the other Smurfs, which are approximately 100 years old. He is quite energetic for his age, and is easily distinguished from the other Smurfs by his red clothes and his bushy white beard, which was brown in his younger days".  WOW.. I didnt know The Smurf can lived up to few hundred years.. lol.. guess I just learn something today!! LOL..

I absolutely love this cake.. the design was inspired by Leesin's edible art.. i absolutely loves the frill effect.. I mean, whats there not to love about this cake? haha.. dun want to be biase, but tink any kids or adults will surely fall in love with this cake!! hehe.. dont you??

Customer sms-ed and told me she loves the cake esp. the frill bit.. its just so eye-cathing!!

I think this cake perfect for any theme.. just change the bear topper.. birthday or even wedding? :)

Dont You just loved a matching party themed??? Well, I am totally obssessed in creating a themed dessert table and this time, a very lucky boy get to have all those goodies!! This boy has the same name as my son "Brandon Tan" (except my son's spelling is with an "E" instead of "O").. how weird is that??  Pity my 3.5yrs old boy who already knew how to spell his name kept asking me.. "Mummy.. is that for me?".. my heart just break each time he asked that.. especially this time round.. All the nicest cake n goodies that I make, he'll come up to me and said.. "Mummy, thats very nice.. is it for me??" with those puppy eyed look.. and it breaks my heart when I said 'No darling.. its for so and so' and this time around he said..but it has my name on it.. sighhh!!! So I tell him that you're not 10 years old right.. so its not for you darling! He went away with that sad look on his face.. totally breaks my heart.. I promised I'll do something special for your coming birthday love!!

Chic & Sexy 21st Bday Cake

When a girl customer called me n request for me to design a cake for her (any theme in red & black colour theme) for her 21st Birthday Party, the first thought that came through my head was Red = Sexy and Black = Chic.. so the rest pretty much comes into place quite easily!!! I loved this cake and so did the birthday girl!! (*huge grin of satisfaction**)..
